In 2011, the Hobbs Eagles struggled through an overall record of 2-8 and 0-2 in district play. The 2012 edition of the Eagles are working to turn things around. Charles Gleghorn was hired as Head Coach in the off season to guide the football program back to prominence. Coach Gleghorn has won four state championships at two different schools in New Mexico. During his twelve years as a head coach, his record stands at 90-34. He brings with him a wide open offense that holds numerous state records in passing. His goal as a head coach in Hobbs is to build a football program from the elementary schools all the way through the high school. Defense is a top priority as well for the Eagles. This year Hobbs will return twenty eight lettermen. Key players returning are Daniel Cornejo (LB/RB), Donovon Fierro (SS/RB), Robert Houston (OL/DL), Javon King (CB/WR), Lucas Medrano (LB/WR), and Braden Price (QB/OLB). Coach Gleghorn says “the off season has been profitable in terms of strength and agility gains. Athletes have taken well to understanding and being receptive to changes in defensive and offensive philosophies. Like any situation that encounters change the true test will start with the first game of the year. We believe progress will be steady and our expectations for success are very high in 2012”. Coach Gleghorn and his new staff are upbeat and his winning attitude is contagious. Get on the band wagon folks. Great things are upcoming !!
