The Oklahoma Sooners ended the 2011 season with an overall record of 10-3 and were 6-3 in  Big 12 play.  Going into the 2012 season, a great deal of enthusiasm exist in Sooner Country.  Head Coach Bob Stoops who is beginning his 13thseason at Oklahoma and has an overall coaching record of 139-34, has reason to be optimistic.  The Sooners will return 8 starters on offense, 7 on defense, as well as their punter and kicker this season.  Returning starters on offense are Landry Jones (QB), Kenny Stills (WR), Jaz Reynolds (WR), Lane Johnson (OLT), Gabe Ikard (OLG), Ben Habern (OC) and Tyler Evans (ORG).  On defense the Sooners return Javon Harris (SS), Demontre Hurst (CB), Jamarkus McFarland (DT), Aaron Colvin (CB), Stacy McGee (NT), Tom Wort (LB) and Corey Nelson (LB).  On special team both Tress Way (P) and Michael Hunnicutt (K) will return.  The key to Oklahoma’s success this season will be based on how effective Quarterback Landry Jones is his senior season.  If he can show poise in the pocket and get to the ball to his running backs and receivers, then Oklahoma will be a force to reckon with.  Mike Stoops returns to the Sooner staff as there new defensive coordinator and he will once again light a fire under the Oklahoma defense.  Expect the Oklahoma Sooners to compete for the Big 12 Championship and possibly a National Championship.
