In 2012, the Tatum Coyotes under the leadership of Head Coach Gary Durham experienced an overall record of 8-4 and 1-2 in district play and qualified for the New Mexico Class A Playoffs. Coach Durham has been a head coach for eleven years and four of those years have been in Tatum. His overall record as a head coach is 67-51. Coach Durham believes that his 2012 squad will be competitive for district and state play. District 8A is very tough in eight man football and the Coyotes seem to be up to the task. Tatum has twenty five returning lettermen. Key players returning are Timmy Pearce (RB/DE), Seth Slover (QB/LB), Mason Price (DE/RB), Jayden Kirkpatrick (LB), Bryce Howe (RB/DB), Kyle Hollingsworth (OL), Jonathan Amadore (NG), Sergio Rubio (RB), Alfonso Duran (DB/RB), Sean Elliott (OL/DE), Lucas Buchanan (WR/DB), Trevor Glanton (TE/DB), Travis Machacek (TE), and Stephen Brazil (OL) . The Tatum Coyotes have their eyes on the state championship trophy as usual.
