It is owned by American Asset Management and its city of license is Hobbs, N.M. The station broadcasts with a maximum radiated power of 5000 Watts, covering S.E. New Mexico and West Texas.
The station started broadcasting a sports talk format as “ESPN Radio” as of Sept. 1, 2009.
The station carries full time programming and live national play by play from ESPN Radio, including NBA, MLB, NCAA Football, Game Day Live, and BCS Bowl games, and is the local affiliate for the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Westwood One provides us with live play by play of the NFL and NCAA Championship Basketball.
ESPN Southwest also carries plenty of local programming. It is the flagship station of Lea County Public Schools athletics, (the legendary Larry "The Dude" Philpot, Dusty "The Kid" Windham, and Jay "The King" Funderburk handle play-by-play), and cover Hobbs High School, Lea County High Schools, West Texas High Schools, New Mexico Junior College and the University of the Southwest.
